  1. Admission and membership to the Library is open to all staff and students of
    the University; and some registered members of community, especially Library
    Outreach Partners.
  2. Briefcases, bags, umbrellas and other similar items must be left at the
    entrance with the Security Guards.
  3. At the discretion of staff, Clients dressed in a manner deemed not befitting
    the Library environment will not be allowed in the Library. This includes putting
    on bathroom slippers.
  4. Opening hours and services available will always be displayed at the
    entrance of the library and at various notice boards on campus.
  1.  Only fully registered staff, students and community members will be allowed
    to borrow items from the Library.
  2. Items available for loan may be borrowed, within the limits specified for
    each borrower category, on production of a valid Library Number or User
    Names.
  3. No item may be removed from the library until the appropriate borrowing
    procedure has been completed.
  4. Items restricted to use in the library will be taken out only when special
    permission is granted by the Librarian or one of the Assistant Librarians.
  5. Library staff may restrict the circulation of any item of library stock anytime
    due to the prevailing item circumstances, such as damage, demand and
    reservations.
  6. Borrowers are responsible for all items issued against their names or Library
    Numbers.
  7. The Library may recall an item at any time if it is required for special
    purposes. Failure to return a recalled item by the required date will result in a
    fine determined by the Librarian.
  8. A fine of 1000/= (one thousand Ugandan shillings) will be levied for late
    return of items on loan per day.
  9. Borrowers may renew loans, provided that the items in question are not
    wanted (put on hold) by other readers.
  10. All items on loan must be returned and fines cleared before one seeks
    clearance from the Library at the end the course, tenure or expiry of
    membership.
  11. All persons on leaving the library must allow the library staff to examine all
    library material in their possession; and also, to see the contents of all cases,
    bags, and other receptacles they may be carrying.
  12. Lost books will be charged at full replacement value plus administration
    costs.
  1. Do not unplug computers accessories or plug in personal accessories /gargets without due permission from the Staff.
  2. Ensure that your work is not left on the computer, as it can be deleted any
    time.
  3. Never share your network ID and password with anyone else.
  4. Don’t view, send or download anything offensive.
  5. Reservations of computers can only be done through the Systems Librarian.
  6. Remember the Library’s online services are for academic use only and must not be used for any commercial purpose.
  7. Always follow copyright law and don’t plagiarise
  1. Deliberate unauthorized removal of library materials, defacing or deliberate
    damaging of library property will be regarded as an extremely serious offence
    against University discipline.
  2. Library Users will be held responsible for, and will have to make good, any
    loss or damage to items on loan to them or being used by them in the Library.
  3. The reservation of seats in the Library is not permitted and prohibited.
  4. The Library accepts no responsibility for personal belongings brought into the building.
  5. All readers must leave the Library before the sanctioned closing times.
  6. Readers will only be allowed to the enter Library at the sanctioned opening
    times
  7. Conversation and behavior likely to disturb or inconvenience other readers must be avoided in all reading areas of the library. This includes the use of Mobile phones, which is strictly prohibited.
  8. Smoking is prohibited in and near the library premises.
  9. Visitors with disabilities may ask Library staff for reasonable assistance.
  10. Library staff may require any person who is guilty of disorderly or improper conduct or any breach of Library regulations to withdraw from the library. Offenders may also be deprived of borrowing services for a period specified by the Librarian.
  1. A book can be renewed for further one term if the book is not being
    reserved by anyone.
  2. A book that is temporarily in special demand may be lent for a shorter period than the prescribed period. The Librarian may at any time terminate the loan / reduce the loan period as the time demands.
  3. Reference Books can only be used in the Library
  4. Members are not allowed to sub-lend the books borrowed from the library.
  5. The person in whose name a book/periodical is issued will be held responsible for the care of the same. He/ She will have to bear the compensation for any damage or loss.
  6. No book shall be issued which is not in good condition for safe handling. The condition of books will be decided by the Librarian.
  7. Periodicals are regarded as reference books and are not issued normally.
  8. Newly procured books are displayed for at least 3 days and will not be issued out during this period, but can be reserved or put hold, and borrowed at the end of the display period.
  9. If a book/book borrowed from the Library is/are lost, the matter must be reported to the Librarian immediately. The member will have to replace the same or a later edition of the same book lost/ damaged.
