Boosting Research Visibility: Uganda Martyrs University Hosts Successful ORCID Capacity Building Session with RENU<\/p>

Mpigi, Nkozi\u00a0 \u2013\u00a0Uganda Martyrs
University has taken a significant stride in strengthening its research
footprint by successfully hosting a one-day ORCID Capacity Building Session,
facilitated by the Research and Education Network for Uganda (RENU). The event,
held on 29<\/span>th<\/sup> October 2025, brought together faculty, Students,
researchers and Librarians to harness the power of ORCID iDs and advance the
institution\u2019s integration into the global research landscape.<\/span><\/p>

The hands-on training, empowered the UMU community with the tools to increase the discoverability and impact of their scholarly work.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Key Outcomes of the Session:<\/span><\/b><\/p>

Empowered Researchers: Attendees learned how to create, manage, and use their ORCID iDs to seamlessly link their publications, datasets, and professional affiliations, saving time and ensuring proper attribution.<\/span><\/p>

Skilled Administrators: Institutional representatives received in-depth training on the ORCID Member Portal and Hub, equipping them to generate insightful statistics, assigning trust markers for proper identification and affiliation to enhance the visibility of the university\u2019s research output.<\/span><\/p>

Sustainable Growth: A pivotal moment of the day was the election of UMU\u2019s inaugural ORCID Ambassadors. These dedicated individuals will champion ORCID adoption on campus, providing long-term support and awareness.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cThe session was a transformative step for our research community,\u201d said a participant from the Faculty of Health Sciences. \u201cMoving from understanding the value of ORCID to knowing exactly how to use it empowers our scholars and strengthens Uganda Martyrs University\u2019s profile immeasurably.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

This event was a direct benefit of the university\u2019s membership to the Uganda ORCID Consortium and underscores UMU\u2019s commitment to fostering a world-class research environment.<\/span><\/p>
