Effect of Revenue Management on Service Delivery in Local Governments a Case Study of Mbale Municipal Council.

The study was conducted on the effect of revenue management on service delivery, this study was guided by the following objectives: to examine the effect of mode of allocation of revenue on service delivery in Mbale municipality local government, to establish the effect of record keeping in revenue management on service delivery in Mbale municipal council local government, to examine the effect of accountability in revenue management on service delivery in Mbale municipal council local government. The study used a cross sectional survey designs were a methodological triangulation was used to collect and analyze both qualitative and quantitative data; the researcher used questionnaires and interview schedules to collect data.
The following results were obtained out of the study; The findings presented in chapter four of this study draws conclusion that there is a relatively low effect of revenue allocation on service delivery in Mbale Municipal Council at R2=.252 hence giving a 25.2% effect of revenue allocation on service delivery. On record keeping it was discovered that there is an 18.3% effect of record keeping on service delivery in Mbale Municipal council which is significant though very low. On accountability, it was discovered that there was a 22.3% effect of allocation on service delivery in Mbale Municipal Council which is also significant though low. This therefore means that revenue management has a low effect on service delivery in Mbale Municipal Council.
The researcher deduced the following recommendations: There is need for improvement on the budgetary funding on motivation of employees concerned with revenue collection and service delivery from the top management. Noted from the study was that there was need to make annual salary increments of employees and while factoring in the ever changing inflation. The study further recommends that there is need to make a review in the service delivery policies and laws which most specifically impact on the consumers of these services. There should be a liaison between the past records and the current challenges, this should be done to allow the municipality to identify the present challenges and also maybe borrow past experience to counteract the present challenges.
