Dr. Mark Olweny is Associate Professor in Architecture in the Faculty of the Built Environment at Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi. Mark is an Architect and Urban Designer, with a background in architecture, human geography and urban psychology. He holds an undergraduate degree, the Bachelor of Architectural Studies (Honours), and a professional architecture degree, Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Adelaide. He also holds a professional planning degree, Master of Regional and Urban Planning from the University of South Australia, and a research masters degree, Master of Architectural Studies from the University of Adelaide. His research interests include cultural environmentalism, energy and comfort in buildings and engagement with futures thinking as a core element of development. His Ph.D., completed at the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University looked at socialisation in education as part of an interest in transformational education in sub-Saharan Africa.
