Opening up UMU Library to facilitate access to research and information for community development


Opening up access to research and information isn’t a luxury – it’s a necessity. In this year's library week, Uganda Martyrs University Open access week activities will be aimed at opening up the Archbishop Kiwanula Memorial Library to research and Information for community development. the activities for the week are as follows:

  • Show-casing UMU Library products and services
  • Registration of library users
  • Book exhibition/ fair
  • Advocate for and create more awareness on Open Access amongst faculty and researchers of UMU community
  • Work on a draft Open Access policy for UMU
  • Publish and share a list of Open Access journals
  • Hold a meeting with community members of Nkozi Village (potential stakeholders- schools, hospital, local council officials, Agricultural extension workers, health workers, community information specialists, cultural leaders etc.) to establish what they expect from UMU in regard to access to information and research
